Job Summary The University of Portland located in Portland, Oregon, USA invites applications for a faculty position as a Clinical Teaching Associate (CTA) in the Center for Clinical Excellence and Simulated Health Center of the School of Nursing & Health Innovations. Forward-thinking, creative faculty with expertise in clinical teaching, psychomotor skills, nursing education, simulation, informatics and/or clinical technology are encouraged to apply. The School of Nursing & Health Innovations (SONHI) values a diversity of backgrounds and intellectual perspectives that create an environment of rich student mentoring within a community of scholars. The undergraduate and doctoral programs are built on the interconnectedness of individual social needs, clinical care, and community conditions. Successful candidates will have a high level of enthusiasm and engagement in innovative and inclusive pedagogy. The SONHI is ideally suited for candidates with a focus on cultivating human learning capacity and who are dedicated to addressing social determinants of health. The SONHI implements state of the art simulation in ambulatory, acute, and telemedicine facilities.. The University of Portland is a primarily undergraduate institution comprising four professional schools and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), which houses our strong liberal arts Core Curriculum, required of all students. The University Core provides students in all disciplines a unifying set of experiences and promotes engagement with the Six Core Habits of Heart and Mind, which include "Global & Historical Consciousness" and "Diversity & the Common Good." This CTA position supports the work of the Center for Clinical Excellence, engaging stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve clinical education quality and satisfaction, including periodic in-person visits to the clinical sites. The position bears responsibility for interfacing with clinical partners to identify suitable sites and preceptors for clinical nursing courses. Duties also include teaching clinical courses, recruiting, hiring, and orienting new clinical adjunct faculty. Core Duties University of Portland faculty teach, advise, conduct research, and serve the School and the University.
All SONHI faculty teach across programs, as well as assist students in achievement of course objectives, guide student interaction in course-related work groups, grade coursework and provide feedback.

Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor of science in nursing
Preferred:
Master of science in nursing or enrolled in a M.S.N. program by the time of employment
Preferred:
Experience in nursing education or nursing student advisement
Preferred:
Recent experience in clinical nursing Certifications & Licenses Required:
Active unencumbered license as an Oregon R.N. or eligible for licensure in Oregon. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated effectiveness and student-centered approach to education.
Strong orientation towards continued learning and applying learning in the teaching and environment.
Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentoring.
Competence with and commitment to inclusive excellence; ability to be an effective partner with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
Commitment to collegial collaboration (e.g., teaching, research, or service) both within the school and across the University.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion. Physical Requirements Frequently:
