Director of Nursing Hospice Latrobe, PA 15650 Up to $110,000 a year - Full-time Up to $110,000 a year - Full-time Job Overview Overview This Hospice job is different. We are creating a new hospice focused on serving residents of assisted living and memory care facilities. Thus the necessity of extensive travel to individual patient homes is limited. We will actually be basing the hospice CNA team full time in the facilities, 7 days a week. With the current moratorium on new hospice Medicare enrollment, we are looking to designate our team for our Pa. State license receipt in anticipation of the Medicare application. Thus the initial role will be hourly consulting, ($100 per hour) but will be assured for full time as soon as we know when we can submit for Medicare. We would except the applicant to meet the standard AI generated qualifications below, but again, will be working in our facility resident only patient and staff format. Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership for the hospice nursing department, setting strategic goals aligned with organizational values and regulatory standards. Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans that prioritize patient comfort, preferences, and clinical needs. Supervise nurse management staff and direct care teams, ensuring effective shift management, staffing levels, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA privacy standards, Medicare guidelines, and state licensing requirements. Review medical records, documentation, and clinical notes regularly to maintain accuracy, completeness, and adherence to legal standards. Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration among physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic hospice care. Manage EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) documentation processes efficiently for seamless patient care documentation review. Lead quality assurance initiatives by analyzing clinical outcomes related to physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology to improve patient safety and care quality. Support staff development through supervising training programs in assisted living practices, nursing home protocols, home health procedures, and acute care techniques. Foster a positive work environment that promotes leadership growth among nursing staff while ensuring compliance with shift management protocols. Requirements Proven experience in nursing administration within hospice care or related fields such as assisted living, nursing homes, or home health settings. Demonstrated supervising experience with strong nurse management skills; previous leadership roles preferred. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and documentation review processes relevant to hospice and acute care environments. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for medical records management; ability to adapt to new technologies quickly. Strong understanding of Medicare regulations related to hospice services as well as HIPAA privacy laws governing medical records confidentiality. Excellent leadership abilities combined with effective communication skills to manage multidisciplinary teams across shifts. Ability to interpret complex medical data and develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual residents' needs. Knowledge of medical records management systems and documentation standards necessary for compliance audits.
