Job Description:
Forensics is a club dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers students a multitude of activities, as well as opportunities to socialize and build lasting friendships. The team participates in local Pennsylvania High School Speech League (PHSSL) tournaments, competing alongside schools to enhance forensics (speech) education.

Experience:
Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.
Skills:
Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work with students of all ability levels.
Education:
Valid PA teaching certificate.
Essential Functions:
A coach acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.
Coaches will promote a positive, inclusive team culture, ensuring all students have equitable opportunities to participate and grow academically, socially, and competitively.
Develop and implement the speech and debate program, including preparing students for persuasive, demonstrative, commentary, impromptu, and informative speaking events.
Plan, organize, and facilitate regular Forensics Club meetings focused on developing students' skills in public speaking, argumentation, interpretation, and performance events.
Coach and mentor students in public speaking techniques, debate strategies, research skills, and effective communication to foster both skill development and confidence.
The coach will prepare students for interscholastic speech and debate competitions by providing coaching, feedback, and instruction aligned to event rules, judging criteria, and competition standards.
Coaches coordinate and supervise student participation in local, regional, and/or state-level Forensics tournaments, including registration, logistics, transportation coordination, and adherence to district policies.
Coaches will ensure students do not participate if they have not paid the activity fee.
Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.
Other duties as assigned by Administration.
Frequency of meetings:

- June (based on the PHSSL schedule); meet approximately 1/week after school for an hour; 7-10 events per year Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students
