Embracing Service, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, Pursuing Excellence, and Advancing Equity Reporting to the clinical manager of the SC Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Program (MMMRC) in the Population Health Surveillance Section under the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health this position conducts surveillance of records for maternal deaths; interprets medical diagnoses, and abstracts statical/medical information into a database. Responsivities include ensuring completeness/accuracy of information; confidentiality measures; meeting organizational objectives; providing progress reports; and, serving as liaison to hospital/clinic departments. Conducts family interviews regarding maternal deaths and provides resources as needed. Conducts surveillance of medical records for maternal deaths, interprets medical diagnoses and abstracts clinical and non-clinical information into a database. Responsibilities include ensuring completeness/accuracy of information, confidentiality measures, meeting organizational objectives, providing progress reports and serving as a liaison to hospitals and clinic departments. Conducts family interviews regarding maternal deaths and provides resources as needed. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned, including required travel if requested, and responds as directed during emergencies which may occur outside normal work hours, and travel if requested.
State Minimum Requirements :
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in good standing as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Agency Additional Requirements:
Must hold an active South Carolina nursing license in good standing, or a valid multistate license in good standing from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) participating state. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Two (2) years of maternal child health nursing experience and one (1) year of medical records abstraction experience.
