Job Description

Monitor Tech Kootenai Health is currently hiring a patient focused, compassionate Monitor Tech with a drive to provide exceptional care to those they serve. Team Highlights The progressive care unit (PCU) specializes in treating medical and surgical patients whose needs are not serious enough for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but too complex for regular med/surg units. Patients are treated for a variety of cardiac and other medical problems including dysrhythmias, myocardial infractions, stroke, organ failure, and patients who have recently begun potent drug regimens that require monitoring. As a staff member of the PCU unit, you operate between the basic level of general care and the highly specialized level of ICU care. PCU is a 33-bed unit that is growing to meet the increasing high acuity needs of our community. About the Job The Monitor Tech is responsible for continuously monitoring patients from a remote workstation located in the Critical Care Monitor Studio located between the Critical Care and Progressive Care Units. In this job, you will watch patient's heart rates using equipment that tracks several patients simultaneously and report important changes to the nursing staff. In this role, you will also ensure that monitors are functioning properly. Minimum Qualifications High School Graduate or equivalent preferred Receive 90% or above on BCA exam within first 90 days of employment Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias required Completion of Basic EKG/Arrhythmia course within 3 months CMT/Cardiac Experience Preferred Working knowledge of medical terminology
