Job Description

Registered Nurse Trainer Des Plaines, IL 60017 $40 an hour - Part-time $40 an hour - Part-time Overview Our company is dedicated to delivering compassionate and skilled contract nursing services to agencies that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in community group homes. With a focus on empathy, dignity, and excellence, we partner with each agency to understand and serve their unique needs, ensuring the highest quality of care and enhancing the well-being of every individual we serve. We are looking for dedicated and passionate nurses to expand our team immediately in the northern Chicago suburbs. Responsibilities Perform annual nursing assessments for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) living in community group homes all over the Chicagoland area. Perform a monthly medication cycle fill at each agency verifying medications against current physician orders. Provide staff training and education on proper medication administration to unlicensed authorized medication passers. Assess individuals to determine ability to assist in taking their own medication. Train staff on medication changes and expected side effects. Maintain Controlled Substance Count Sheets in the homes. Review monthly medication administration records for errors in medication administration. Write quarterly and annual medication error reports/reviews. Work with physicians and the pharmacies to keep Physician Order Sheets current and accurate. Educate staff on the use of Electronic Medication Administration Record systems. Inspect medication carts/cabinets for proper storage and remove expired medications. Consult with agencies on writing a corrective action plan for agency improvement based on state audit findings. Minimum 15-20 hours per week with at least two weekdays a week in the office or in the field during business hours of 8am - 3pm. Some early morning and evening hours required, but with flexible scheduling. The two days a week do not include weekends. Some remote work available (this is a majority in-person position). Must be willing to travel up to 1.5 hours from your residence (travel time is compensated); regular travel will be up to 45 minutes from the Des Plaines area in any direction. Adhere to HIPAA compliance guidelines throughout processes.
THIS IS NOT A FULL TIME JOB AND THERE ARE NO BENEFITS.
Qualifications Must be a Registered Professional Nurse with a current unencumbered IL licensure and 2 years of experience. Experience with individuals with IDD a bonus. Must be able to work independently and efficiently and communicate and collaborate with a team of nurses. Must be comfortable with technology including Adobe/pdf's, Google docs, spreadsheets, Google Drive, EMARs and virtual meeting platforms. Current CPR Certification required. Must provide own PC laptop with Windows 10 or 11 (NOT a Mac). Must have a valid driver's license and carry vehicle insurance. Must be willing to have background checks performed by agencies. We will not consider applicants that already have a full time job they are trying to supplement.
