JOB OBJECTIVE
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and supervising the medical and personal care services delivered in their assigned area. The stated goal of the Registered Nurse is to assure resident safety and attain the highest practicable health and psychosocial well-being of each Resident is attained and maintained in accordance with the comprehensive assessment and plan of care. These services are consistent with the Home's standards and philosophy and are in compliance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the Home. MISSION The Registered Nurse will carry out their duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely caring for the aged poor with love, respect and dignity. "Making the elderly happy, that is what counts" was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and respect in creating a family spirit.
JOB STANDARDS
The Registered Nurse must have: A license to practice in the Home's state as a Registered Nurse. The ability to function as the nurse in charge during their shift. Possess good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write and understand English. Be able to function independently and perform related duties/tasks with a minimum of supervision or direction. Good observational skills and a working knowledge of the nursing process. The ability to supervise others and/or have prior management experience. The necessary leadership skills to interact effectively with staff, Residents and families.
