Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive postoperative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patient vital signs, managing pain, and ensuring safe recovery through precise assessment and intervention. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic healthcare team dedicated to excellence in perioperative recovery. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments upon arrival in the PACU, including vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness. Monitor patients continuously for adverse reactions or complications related to anesthesia or surgery. Administer medications, including IV infusions and pain management therapies, following strict aseptic techniques. Manage airway patency and ventilator support as needed, utilizing advanced airway management skills. Document all patient care activities accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient recovery plans. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding postoperative care instructions. Respond promptly to emergencies such as acute pain episodes or respiratory distress, utilizing advanced life support protocols. Assist with discharge planning by assessing readiness for transfer to other units or home settings, including long-term care or hospice services when appropriate. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards throughout all patient interactions.
