Job Description

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse CCL (RN CCL) will provide care of the patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL). The RN CCL conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with organization policies and procedures. Serves as a point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout their hospital stay. The RN CCL is responsible for demonstrating proficient nursing skills, exhibiting professionalism, and providing outstanding customer service to patients and their visitors. The RN CCL promotes a culture of patient safety and assesses for processes improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree (ADN) in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing preferred. Experience Minimum one (1) year experience in Critical Care required. Minimum one (1) year experience in Cardiac Catheterization Lab required. Minimum one (1) year experience in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention required. Licensure/Certification/Registration Current South Carolina or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse (SCLLR) in good standing required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Other On call rotation required and must respond within 30 minutes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing duties such as but not limited to; start or check IV's, administer medications, monitor vital signs, suction patients and help patients with their personal needs. Responsible for daily functions of the CCL which include clerical/scheduling and technical duties. Assist the Cardiologist in performing all procedures in the CCL. Needs to possess pacing and defibrillating knowledge and critical care decision making skills. Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care, delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers, and assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and act as team leader for patients in the CCL. Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads. Effectively utilize strong organizational skills. Consistently display effective verbal communication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills. Exercise independent judgement in emergency situations. Performs functions as noted above in assigned position within the CCL, but RN-RCIS is ready and willing to assist co-workers with ANY nursing support function and across any case load including other units that may not be the normal primary work assignment. Completes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
