Job Description

Digestive Disease Group, PA is currently recruiting for a second full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team (no call, no weekends, and no major holidays). Digestive Disease Group, PA is a large independent gastroenterology practice that serves seven counties. The endoscopy center is an outpatient-based facility performing approximately 215 endoscopy procedures per week. The facility is open Monday through Thursday 7:30 am-4 pm and 7:30 am-12 pm Friday. This position will assist the physician with all endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), flexible sigmoidoscopies, and Bravos.
Primary Function:
Works cooperatively and effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other personnel while caring for patients in the GI endoscopy setting. Demonstrates initiative, insight, and judgment in making decisions. Under the general direction of a physician, the CRNA administers anesthetics and monitors the anesthetized patient during Endoscopic procedures. Works within the guidelines and scope of practice of the CRNA Practice Act. Perform physical examinations and assessments of patients to determine anesthesia requirements Review pre-operative history and physical, laboratory data, consultations, or any other pertinent data before initiating the IV sedation. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent for IV sedation. Prepares monitoring devices, medications, and airway management pre-procedure. Initiates the IV sedation in the presence of the Gastroenterologist. Monitors the patient's physiological condition as appropriate for the IV sedation and specific patient's needs. Manages a patient's airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities. Facilitates emergence and recovery from IV sedation. Responds to emergencies with the surgery center by providing airway management including intubation (if needed) and documents treatment rendered. Documents patient information accurately and timely on the anesthesia record in the patient's electronic medical record. Safely transports patients from the procedure room to the recovery area and accurately reports patient status to the post-procedure nurse. Remains with the patient upon transfer until the patient's immediate condition is acceptable. Experience Must be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Minimum of 2 years of experience in providing anesthesia services in a healthcare setting Experience in critical care settings, managing pain relief, and sedation for patients
Qualifications:
Valid SC nursing license and certification as a CRNA Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
