Office Infusion Oncology Nurse Lexington Medical Center - 3.8 West Columbia, SC Job Details Full-time 15 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification RN License BLS Certification Monitoring and managing IVs Central Line Care Acute care Oncology Chemotherapy Full Job Description Job Summary This position administers chemotherapy infusion nursing care to patients in an office setting. Chemotherapy is performed in accordance with the physician's orders and under the direction and supervision of the physician. The RN is responsible for implementing the nursing process in accordance with the professional practice and agency policy. The RN will provide quality cancer care to all patients.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum Years of Experience:
2 Years of experience in the provision of acute care nursing Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional):
None Required Certifications/Licensure:
Current RN licensure with the state of South Carolina;
BLS, CPR
; Preferred
OCN, ACLS,PALS
Required Training:
Documented proficiency in Infusion Therapy, chemotherapy administration, PICC line care, VAD care, Hickman/Broviac care, and maintenance Essential Functions Understands and adheres to established company policies and regulatory procedures. Process chemotherapy orders, notifies physician of patient needs and changes in condition promptly. Documents all procedures and activities performed pertaining to chemotherapy dosing administration in the EHR system. Maintains active awareness and responsibility for billing events created in the EHR system based on manual documentation of chemotherapy dosing. Chemotherapy dose limit checking, adjustment and banding. This will include drug interaction checking (drug/drug, drug/allergy, drug/diagnosis and drug/gender). Determines the amount and type of nursing needed by each individual patient. Regularly re-evaluates the needs of the patient. Counsels with the patient, family, significant others on nursing, teaching and related needs. Inserts intravenous cannulas, administers prescribed intravenous solutions and medications. Monitors and maintains infusion sites and systems. Evaluates response to prescribed therapy. Duties & Responsibilities Refers patient to Hospital Social Worker, Breast Cancer Navigator, Financial Counselor, and Dietitian when appropriate. Prepares clinical records and progress notes for each patient visit in a timely manner. Ensure Hazardous Waste or Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals are discarded, stored, and managed with other compatible waste streams in containers that are properly labeled and closed prior to being shipped offsite for proper disposal. Initial RCRA training is received within 6 months of the hire date and continuing with annual RCRA training. Performs all other duties as assigned.
