Responsibilities/Duties This position requires working in an office setting with regular interaction with customers and staff. Some flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate scheduling needs.
Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged sitting or standing, and occasional stooping, bending and reaching. Must work in a busy office environment with ability to perform skills such as computer, telephone, copiers and calculator. May require travel. Hearing ability sufficient to communicate with others effectively in person or over phone. Visual ability must be sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screen and drive a car. Exert 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force consistently to move objects. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment such as phones, printers, and filing systems Key Responsibilities/Skills//Abilities Should have knowledge of Trauma Informed Care (TIC), the Adverse Childhood Experiences study (ACEs) resilience and the effect of trauma on individuals. Job Summary:
A Public Health Nurse (PHN) is responsible for promoting and protecting the health and well-being of communities through education, preventive care, and advocacy. They assess community health needs, develop and implement health programs, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and organizations to address public health challenges. PHNs focus on prevention, health education, and outreach, and work closely with primary care providers for services such as family planning, STD treatment, and immunizations.
Requirements:
Conduct nursing assessments, health histories, perform appropriate lab tests and physical exams, obtain appropriate swab cultures, venipunctures, and apply the appropriate medical treatment according to nursing protocols in clinic, schools, and other community settings. Teach clients to maintain or improve their health status. Document care and education provided to the client Educate the community on public health issues. Handles irate clients smoothly without loss of ternper, while providing clear and accurate information to clients A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrate effective time management by prioritizing tasks, identifying necessary actions, and completing them independently, including follow-up assignments from clinic visits, without the need for supervisor prompts. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as prescribed by a physician/protocols Schedule patient test and/or appointments as necessary Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements. Coordinates medical and social services for the patient Respond to emergencies and provide immediate medical attention and intervention if needed. Willingness to adapt to changes in healthcare policies, procedures, and protocols. Respond to public health emergencies and provide crisis intervention. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations. Experience with electronic health records (EHR). Ability to travel and work in various community settings. Use language line services to communicate with non-English speaking patients. Complete DDL checks as assigned Serve as a preceptor for nursing students during clinical rotations, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Follow chain of command

Must be available to respond to health-related emergencies. Provide accurate information about SCRHD services and policies. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing diploma and Currently licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the appropriate state
