QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Tennessee Registered Nurse license is required. Experience in public health or in child health is preferred. Current CPR BLS Certification Valid TN Driver's License Knowledge of Diabetes Management, Gastrostomy Tube Feedings, Tracheostomy Suctioning and Catheterizations of school age children. Knowledge of growth and development and health problems/conditions commonly seen among school-age children Knowledge of the treatment and nursing care needs of children with special health problems This position requires someone who is flexible in adapting to changing situations and work orders; work courteously and cooperatively with administration, staff and parents; demonstrate respect, compassion and caring for children; be confidential, work efficiently and effectively; and must be committed to documentation and safety

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Nursing Director/Principal Provide nursing and other health-related activities which enhance the health and wellbeing of school children Carries out specific nursing tasks, procedures and activities Maintains up-to-date individualized health records The primary duties for this position involve the responsibility for medical related procedures to be performed during the school day as well as medication administration for students. Coordinate the Telemedicine Program in the school. Performs other duties relevant to a school nurse position in a school clinic setting Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of procedures, reports, and activities Attend IEP and 504 meetings, as necessary, for those children with special health care needs to provide medical input and assist with goal development. Communicates to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures Perform medical emergency assistance when needed. Performs other duties as assigned Starting at $33.33/hour. Refer to certified hourly schedule 195 days
