@NFETN.COM We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) to provide exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and trauma settings, demonstrating proficiency in patient assessment, acute pain management, and advanced clinical procedures. As an ED RN, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care, ensuring safety, and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Duties Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine acuity levels and prioritize care. Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, sedation, and emergency drugs while adhering to aseptic techniques. Manage airway patency using advanced techniques such as ventilator support and airway management protocols. Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing laboratory experience, medical imaging (such as CT scans), and specimen collection/processing to assist in accurate diagnosis. Provide emergency interventions for trauma patients, including wound suturing, bleeding control, and acute pain management strategies. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in specialties like cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, infectious disease care, or hospice & palliative medicine to ensure comprehensive treatment plans. Participate in triage processes to efficiently prioritize incoming patients based on severity and resource availability. Support patients with complex needs such as working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care. Assist in discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of post-acute or home & community care services. Qualifications Valid RN license with current state certification; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are required. Extensive emergency room experience within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in critical care environments including ICU or PICU settings; familiarity with trauma medicine is essential. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (geriatrics & long-term care), and behavioral health cases. Skills in IV insertion, venipuncture, catheterization procedures, sterile processing techniques, and ostomy care are desirable. Ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes situations involving acute care interventions like tube feeding or gastric lavage.
