Job Description
Category Nursing - RN-Operating Room Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic and high-acuity surgical environment as a skilled registered nurse on a thoracic/vascular team at a major Level 1 trauma center. This contract role calls for experienced, adaptable RNs to join a large operating room unit handling a wide spectrum of complex procedures.
Schedule/Hours:
12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 9:00pm Days worked will vary as scheduled; block scheduling not available Late stays may be required based on unit needsQualifications/Experience:
Current RN license in TN or compact state (required at submission) Certification in perioperative nursing (must be on file at submission) Minimum 2 years' experience as an OR nurse, with prior travel nurse experience Specific thoracic and vascular OR experience is essential Skilled in both circulating and scrub roles, with proficiency in endovascular cases Comfortable working with a variety of adult populations—transplant, trauma, and neuro Competence in all surgical case types including robotic, hybrid, general, orthopedic, GYN, plastics, ENT, and specialized cardiac and vascular cases Experience in large OR settings (1000+ bed hospital, 56-bed OR plus 5 procedural rooms) Ability to float between operating rooms as neededKey Responsibilities:
Deliver expert perioperative care for adult patients undergoing thoracic, vascular, trauma, and transplant procedures Scrub and circulate on advanced endovascular cases in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure top-quality surgical outcomes Adapt to varying shift needs; participate in late cases and support staffing requirements as needed Experience professional growth in a setting where advanced surgical procedures, teamwork, and adaptability are highly valued.
