Responsibilities We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings in Alabama. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine, with the flexibility to adapt to diverse clinical environments. As a Travel IMC RN, you will deliver comprehensive nursing services, coordinate patient assessments, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Provide high-quality nursing care in diverse settings such as ICU, emergency rooms, medical-surgical units, and outpatient clinics, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine appropriate care plans. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform venipuncture with precision while adhering to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations. Monitor patients' conditions using advanced equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and laboratory testing devices; interpret diagnostic results for timely intervention. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists in cardiology, nephrology (dialysis), infectious disease care, and behavioral health to develop comprehensive treatment strategies. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; ensure medical records are complete and compliant with regulatory standards. Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding management, and ostomy care; provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans. Support infection control practices and maintain sterile environments during invasive procedures; participate in discharge planning and post-acute care coordination. Requirements Requires 2 years of recent IMC experience and 2 years of RN experience Cerner experience required Extensive experience working in critical care environments including ICU, Level I Trauma Centers, Level II Trauma Centers, PICU (Pediatric ICU), or neonatal units. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and order entry. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and laboratory procedures. Skilled in performing advanced nursing procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration via various routes, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with specialized areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics including memory care and long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities. Ability to manage acute pain cases effectively while providing compassionate patient-centered care across diverse populations including pediatrics and adults with developmental disabilities or dementia.
