Job Description

Responsibilities Labor and Delivery RNs (L&D RNs) are responsible for monitoring patients throughout labor and serve as the primary point of contact for family members. L&D RNs monitor the baby's heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. L&D RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care Requirements Valid RN license (Compact or Tennessee license) required at the time of submission.
Certifications required:
ACLS, AWHONN
Advanced, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRPs Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery (LDRP) experience and 2 years of RN experience Epic charting system experience within the last 12 months Must pass a competency exam for Epic charting experience. Ability to perform and assist with various obstetrical procedures (e.g., sterile speculum exam, vaginal delivery, cesarean section, epidural anesthesia, fetal monitoring, use of infusion pumps, newborn assessment, postpartum hemorrhage management). Knowledge and experience in administering blood and blood products, managing high-risk pregnancies, use of internal and external fetal monitoring, and neonatal care procedures. Experience with labor, delivery, postpartum, nursery, and neonatal care. Ability to manage patient ratios as specified (e.g., 2 patients per night shift). Experience with special populations such as neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, and pediatrics. Willing to float as needed unless otherwise indicated.
Orientation hours:
16 hours, with 12 hours specified in some parts. COVID-19 and

vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions only). Flu vaccination required with no exemptions. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred. Community hospital and Level I nursery experience preferred. LTAC and trauma level I/II experience are not required.
