Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience and a comprehensive understanding of advanced patient management within high-acuity environments. As an RN ICU Nurse, you will deliver exceptional patient care, coordinate complex medical procedures, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for critically ill patients. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators. Perform detailed patient assessments and develop individualized care plans aligned with medical directives and best practices. Operate advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors while ensuring proper aseptic techniques. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment strategies and respond swiftly to emergencies. Document patient progress accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Epic, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist in invasive procedures including catheterizations, suturing, and specimen collection while adhering to strict infection control protocols. Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives by adhering to NCQA standards and hospital policies for patient safety and care excellence. Skills Extensive critical care experience within ICU settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers or specialized units such as PICU or Neonatal ICU. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for accurate documentation and order entry. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and diagnostic evaluation relevant to acute care medicine. Skilled in airway management, IV insertion, medication administration, and ventilator management. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs is advantageous. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, laboratory testing procedures, and specimen processing. Ability to perform complex assessments including physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations under high-pressure conditions. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and emergency response protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS). Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and providing patient-centered education. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or urgent care settings while maintaining a high standard of patient safety.
