Copperas Cove, TX Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Perform physical exam and health histories. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals. Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. Collaborate with the physician, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or clinical nurse specialist in the health care/education of patients. Promote preventive and health maintenance care, to include annual physicals/health assessments, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. Coordinates patient care through a multi-disciplinary continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to provision of care, quality improvement and cost effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in the state in which the Outpatient Site of Care is located. Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse after graduation. Staff shall complete VA mandatory training as requested and complete
ACLS/BLS
training and keep
ACLS/BLS
certifications current throughout the life of the contract. Certification refers to the successful completion of an American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN) approved BLS or ACLS course. The AHA and MTN are the only programs acceptable by VA for obtaining required certification. Must be a US Citizen.
