Kickapoo Nursing Home Responsibilities:
The Nursing Home Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a skilled and long-term care nursing facility. While fostering a culture of compassionate care, this position requires a strong leader who can drive staff development, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Nursing Home Director will work closely with healthcare professionals, staff, and families to promote the well-being of residents while maintaining operational excellence. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
    Oversee Facility Operations:
    Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the nursing home, aligning policies with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance resident care and safety.
    • Manage financial aspects of the facility, including budgeting, billing, and resource allocation.
    • Supervise staff across various departments, fostering a collaborative team environment.
    • Ensure resident rights are upheld and advocate for their needs within the facility.
    • Coordinate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
    • Monitor quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care in assisted living and memory care settings.
    • Engage with families and residents to address concerns and improve service delivery.
    Lead and Develop Staff:
    Recruit, orient, train, and retain competent and professional staff while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
      Manage Business Operations:
      Oversee admissions, billing, receivables, payables, payroll, and other financial aspects to ensure fiscal responsibility. Manage facility budget.
        Enhance Resident Services:
        Ensure that all therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitative programs meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
        • Maintain a
        Safe and Comfortable Environment:
        Assure that the nutritional, medical, and overall wellness needs of residents are met in a caring and compliant setting.
        • Work with facility management and consultants in planning all operational aspects, including setting priorities and job assignments. Monitor each department's activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and assist, coach and discipline as needed.
        • Conduct regular rounds to ensure resident needs are being addressed, monitor operations of all departments, cleanliness, and appearance of the facility, and morale of the staff.
        • Maintain a working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all policies and regulations, and company Quality Assurance standards.
        • Monitor employee relation practices of key staff to ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. Promote practices that maintain high morale and staff retention, including effective communication, prompt problem resolution, and positive reinforcement.
        • Manage turnover and ensures adequate staffing through appropriate selection, orientation, training, and staff education.
        • Monitor business office activities to ensure procedures and standards are followed.
        • Develop positive relationships on behalf of the company with the government regulators, families, area health care community and the community at large. Availability to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (24/7).
        • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
        KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR THE POSITION
        • Strong background in nursing or healthcare management with an understanding of senior care practices.
        • Proficient in operations management, demonstrating effective leadership capabilities.
        • Financial acumen necessary for managing budgets and resources effectively.
        • Experience in assisted living environments.
        • Knowledge of memory care best practices to support residents with cognitive impairments.
        • Ability to supervise staff effectively while promoting professional development opportunities.
        • Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for those rights within the facility.
        • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with residents, families, staff, and regulatory bodies.
        • Must demonstrate ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of issues; ability to interpret and provide instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form. Under limited direct supervision, makes decisions that directly affect patient well-being.
        • Must have the ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in crisis situations.
        • Must have a strong ability to effectively and accurately document communications, actions, reports, and other required written documents.
        Language & Communication:
        Ability to read, write, speak and understand English and Spanish, and communicate effectively with others. Spanish speaking and ability to speak Kickapoo a plus.
        • Strong Computer literate/knowledge, ability to use computer and applicable programs necessary for day to day operations such as excel, word, adobe, other software programs and systems, scanners printers, copier, calculator, and other IT equipment and software applicable.
        • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction under pressure and in a high stress, fast paced environment.
        • Attention to detail and accuracy.
        • Ability to manage and maintain security of confidential data and information. HIPAA compliant.
        • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be compassionate and firm.
        • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently in a faced paced and high stress environment.
        • Ability to adapt to a wide range of patient care needs and changes in patient flow while maintaining quality of care.
        • Must have good customer service skills and be a team player.
        • Knowledge of community resources.
        • Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
        • Has a genuine passion for serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
        • Ability to establish solid relationships and relate positively to residents, families, and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other employees at all levels
        • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulatory standards
        • Capable of maintaining regular attendance and working long and irregular hours, often under pressure conditions.
        • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles and interests
        Supervision Exercised:
        This position does carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
        Education/Experience Requirements:
        Minimum Qualifications:
        Bachelor's degree or appropriate education to meet state licensure requirements. At least two years of experience as a Nursing Home Administrator. Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks.
        Preferred Qualifications:
        A master's in healthcare administration (MHA) or a master's in business administration (MBA) specializing in healthcare administration is preferred.
