POSITION SUMMARY
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Inpatient setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Performs all job functions in accordance with Glen Rose Medical Center's Policies and Procedures and Vision/Mission Statement. The Registered Nurse reports directly to the Med Surg Director. Core Responsibilities
Patient Assessment:
Conducting head-to-toe assessments, monitoring vital signs, and recognizing acute changes in condition.
Medication Management:
Administering prescribed medications and intravenous (IV) therapies while monitoring for side effects.
Wound & Procedural Care:
Performing complex dressing changes, inserting catheters, and managing feeding tubes or oxygen equipment.
Care Coordination:
Acting as the "hub" between doctors, specialists, and the patient to ensure smooth transitions and effective treatment plans.
Patient Education:
Preparing patients and families for discharge by teaching them how to manage medications and recovery at home.
Essential Skills
Multitasking:
Managing a typical caseload of 4 to 7 patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Critical Thinking:
Quickly interpreting lab results and vital sign trends to intervene before complications arise.
Adaptability:
Shifting gears to treat varying diagnoses, from pneumonia and sepsis to orthopedic surgeries.
Communication:
Clearly relaying information to the interdisciplinary team and providing emotional support to patients

Physical Requirements:
1. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to: Maintain good general health
Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activities.
Must be physically able to lift, support and move patients.
Ability to speak and hear to allow discussions with patient and peers as well as make accurate physical assessments.
Must possess near visual acuity for accurate reading of equipment and recording on patient charts. 2. The position requires a considerable amount of physical lifting and pulling. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment on supports, push beds throughout the hospital, and perform external cardiac compressions. A significant amount of writing is required. B.
Educational/Licensure/Training:
An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
Six (6) months Registered Nurse Experience preferred.
Licensure in the State of Texas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
Current
BCLS/CPR
certification
ACLS certification
TNCC within one year of hire for ER preferred.
PALS or ENPC with in one year for ER preferred.
English equivalency for communication.
Basic computer knowledge.
