1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment at a rural Texas hospital, requiring 3 years of critical care experience and Meditech proficiency. Details 12-bed ICU within a rural community hospital setting Surgical ICU patient population with critically ill cases Standard ICU patient ratio of 1:2 Floating required to med/surg, rehab, and CDU units when ICU/IMC census is low, with a patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30-07:00 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period Charting system: Meditech (experience required) Requirements Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA-issued) Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience required Surgical ICU experience required Meditech EMR experience required Community hospital experience preferred Core ICU skills required: IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, CVA/acute stroke management, chronic/acute renal failure management, IV insulin protocols, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy Preferred skills include: accessing/managing ports, administration of chemotherapy, assist with chest tube insertion/removal, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, traumatic brain injury care, epicardial pacing wire care and management, Impella, IABP, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, ventricular assist device (LVAD/RVAD), FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, and GI surgery experience 2 supervisor references from within the last 3 years of employment required for consideration First-time travelers are welcome to apply Additional Information Orientation is provided, including for float assignments to med/surg, rehab, and CDU Must work 3 out of 5 winter holidays RTO requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; generally up to 7-10 days, and any approved RTO must be factored into the total contract length Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted Travel pairs are considered on a case-by-case basis Facility housing is available The facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana — a positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions; candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could produce a positive result Located in Kerrville, TX — known as Texas wine country — approximately 1 hour from San Antonio
