Full Job Description Overview:
An Operating Room (OR) Circulator is a Registered Nurse (RN) who manages the non-sterile, logistical, and safety aspects of surgical procedures. They prepare the room, verify patient identity/consent, position patients, monitor for sterile breaches, document, and handle specimens. They act as the primary patient advocate, coordinating between the sterile team and the outside environment.

Weekly Hours:
36 hours per week Facility name: Midland Memorial Hospital Facility location: 400 Rosalind Redfern Grover Pkwy, Midland, TX 79701-5810 Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive preoperative chart review to verify consent, history & physical, labs, imaging, and required implants/special equipment prior to surgery. Perform patient assessment, confirm identity/procedure/site, and actively participate in surgical time-out to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety. Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring sterility, proper instrumentation, and adherence to Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards. Serve as the patient advocate throughout the procedure, continuously monitoring safety, positioning, skin integrity, and overall clinical status. Coordinate intraoperative workflow by collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to anticipate needs and maintain efficiency. Perform and document surgical counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) and manage accurate labeling and handling of specimens for pathology. Complete thorough intraoperative documentation in the electronic health record, including medications, implants, equipment, and any complications. Provide comprehensive postoperative handoff to PACU staff, ensuring continuity of care and safe patient transfer.
Requirements:
Must have active RN state license for Kansas or Multistate/Compact license. BLS certification from AHA required ACLS certification from AHA required NIHSS Required PALS certification highly preferred Must have 2 years of experience as an Operating Room Circulator RN.
