Job Description

Job Summary The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, surgical procedures, and chronic illnesses. The Med-Surg RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Duties and Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to nursing standards and hospital policies Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments as prescribed Perform wound care, catheter care, and post-operative monitoring Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, physical therapy, and other healthcare professionals Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions Maintain patient safety, infection control, and compliance with regulatory standards Serve as a patient advocate and provide emotional support to patients and families Professional Requirements Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times. Excellent attendance record. Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. HIPAA compliant Regulatory Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
