Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Situated just outside the vibrant state capital, Ashland, VA offers a unique blend of small-town charm and easy access to metropolitan activities, historical landmarks, and scenic countryside. This travel position in the Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care environment delivers the chance to collaborate with a well-supported, expert clinical team, further enhancing your professional skills. With every shift, you'll add depth to your clinical toolkit—particularly in advanced cardiac monitoring and stepdown care.
Schedule/Hours:
12-hour day shifts Every other weekend and major holiday required Blocked weekend schedule may be available
Qualifications:
Current RN license (compact eligible) Minimum 1 year RN experience; 6 months acute care (preferred)
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
certification required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred) Proficient in reading/verifying rhythm strips and EKGs Skilled in peripheral IV starts, lab draws Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone) Familiarity with BiPAP, insulin drips, and cardiac monitoring equipment Ability to pass EKG exam during orientation
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive patient assessment and care planning Safe medication administration in a progressive care setting Cardiac monitoring and prioritization of patient needs Collaboration within interdisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes Advocacy and education for patients and their families Occasional floating to appropriate units based on skillset
