Job Description

We are a privately owned nephrology group seeking a clinically strong Physician Assistant to join our team providing inpatient care and daily hospital rounding . This position works closely with nephrologists to manage hospitalized patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, dialysis needs, and related conditions . This role is ideal for a provider who is comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment , enjoys autonomy, and values collaborative, patient-centered care . Our physicians provide strong support while allowing the PA to practice independently within their scope. Responsibilities Perform daily inpatient rounding on nephrology patients Evaluate and manage patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte disorders, hypertension, and dialysis-related complications Provide coverage in hospital settings and outpatient dialysis units as assigned Assess dialysis patients before, during, and after treatments Manage dialysis-related issues including volume status, access concerns, blood pressure management, and lab abnormalities Collaborate with nephrologists, dialysis staff, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams Write and manage dialysis-related orders, including medication adjustments and treatment parameters Review dialysis adequacy, labs, and clinical trends Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and document in the EMR Participate in care coordination and discharge planning Provide patient education related to kidney disease and dialysis modalities Weekend call required (shared rotation) Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program Current PA license (or eligibility) in Virginia Prior inpatient / hospital experience preferred Nephrology experience strongly preferred (training available for strong candidates) Ability to work independently in a hospital setting Strong clinical judgment, organization, and communication skills Additional Details Full-time position Travel between hospital and dialysis clinics required Mileage reimbursement provided Supportive physician team Private practice environment Quality lifestyle / work-life balance This is an excellent opportunity to join an established nephrology group and play a key role in the management of complex inpatient and dialysis patients.
