Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Travel Settle into beautiful Chester, VA—a vibrant community blending quaint Southern charm with the excitement of nearby Richmond. As a traveler, you'll find the region perfectly positioned for exploring historic sites, scenic parks, and dynamic city attractions during your downtime, ensuring that every shift is balanced with inspired adventures. Taking on this assignment is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your nursing expertise. You'll work alongside experienced clinicians on a Med Surg/Telemetry unit serving a diverse patient population—including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, many requiring complex, high-acuity care. This exposure will deepen your knowledge, expand your clinical skills, and offer an invaluable perspective on different workplace cultures and leadership styles, strengthening your resume and professional confidence.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts Every other weekend and major holidays required
What You'll Do:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Manage patients with MS/Tele need, including those requiring BiPAP/CPAP, trachs, chest tubes, and tube feeds (Kangaroo pumps) Administer medications safely and document in
EPIC EHR
(experience preferred) Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and act as point of contact for care coordination Float to other MS/Tele units if needed Care for pre/post hemodialysis and CAPD patients Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring safety and quality outcomes
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Current RN license in Virginia or compact state (required) BLS certification (required), ACLS/CCRN/PCCN/NIH preferred Minimum 1 year acute care RN experience & 1 year travel nursing experience Proficiency with MS/Tele; CAPD experience preferred Ability to pass EKG exam on orientation (study guide available) Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills
