We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Correctional Healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals within a secure correctional setting while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism. The RN will work collaboratively with medical providers, mental health professionals, correctional staff, and interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, triage, and ongoing evaluation of inmate-patient health conditions. Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations in accordance with physician orders and established correctional healthcare protocols. Monitor and document patient health status, vital signs, responses to treatment, and changes in condition within the electronic health record (EHR) system. Respond to medical emergencies, providing appropriate nursing interventions and emergency care as needed. Conduct intake screenings and health assessments for newly admitted inmates. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health providers, and correctional staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Provide care for patients with chronic illnesses, infectious diseases, mental health conditions, and substance use disorders. Perform wound care, medication administration, IV therapy, catheter care, and other nursing procedures within the RN scope of practice. Educate patients on disease management, medication compliance, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle practices. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions, treatments, and clinical observations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a safe and secure healthcare environment. Qualifications Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred; correctional, emergency room, medical-surgical, psychiatric, or public health experience is highly desirable. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems. Knowledge of medication administration, chronic disease management, infection control, and emergency response procedures. Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment while maintaining professional boundaries. Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in high-pressure situations. Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements and HIPAA regulations.
