Job Description

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Assessing patients and identifying actual and potential patient care needs. Ensuring rooms and equipment are clean prior to bringing patient to a room. Evaluating the patient/family response to the treatment and modifying care accordingly. Completing accurate, concise documentation in the patient's chart in a timely manner while patient is in the department. Conveying respect of patient's rights and treating all patients with dignity. Practicing and promoting positive customer/peer relations while fostering a learning work environment. Triage patients by accurately accessing and documenting weight, vital signs, chief complaint, and history Assisting the providers with patient care and performing procedures as ordered (i.e. - Phlebotomy, specimen collection, splints, patient positioning for procedures) Administering, ordering, and documenting medications Obtaining lab samples using safe standard procedures and accurately documenting completion of procedure. Performing IV insertions and fluid management Participating and attending mandatory meetings and training sessions.
LEADERSHIP
Monitor and facilitate patient flow through the clinical area. Identify and assume care of high risk/high acuity patients. Serve as a resource to PCTs for patient care questions and concerns. Ensure daily tasks and checklists are completed.
Required Education/Experience:
Graduate from an approved nursing program Valid state license to practice nursing in the state of Virginia Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (preferred) One year nursing experience in pediatrics (preferred) Emergency/Urgent Care experience (preferred)
