Job Description

Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner Centra Health | Central Virginia Join Centra Health's growing Emergency Medicine team and practice across four community-centered hospitals in beautiful Central Virginia. We are seeking experienced Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners to help serve patients at: Lynchburg General Hospital (Level II Trauma Center) Bedford Memorial Hospital Centra Gretna Medical Center Centra Southside Community Hospital (Farmville) Lynchburg General Hospital sees approximately 70,000 annual ED visits and features 54 emergency beds, advanced stroke and acute MI certification programs, and a newly completed behavioral health emergency space. A brand-new Emergency Department is currently under construction and will include 71 treatment bays, trauma bays, advanced imaging, observation integration, and dedicated psychiatric emergency care space. Providers maintain a primary practice location while rotating among all four facilities, offering variety and collaboration within a supportive health system. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical exams Diagnose, treat, and manage emergency and urgent care patients Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams Complete admissions, discharge summaries, and progress documentation Provide patient and family education and support Coordinate follow-up care, discharge planning, and treatment recommendations Serve as a patient advocate while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care Participate in weekend rotations and departmental initiatives as needed Qualifications Required Education Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Required Experience Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department and/or Urgent Care experience Licensure & Certifications Current Virginia Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority Active Virginia RN license or multistate privilege National board certification in specialty area Current BLS and ACLS certifications Equal Opportunity Employer Centra Health is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workplace.
