Job Description

Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Monitoring:
Conduct comprehensive assessments and interpret complex telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs.
Clinical Interventions:
Manage titratable cardiac drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, vasopressin), respond to rapid changes in patient status, and assist with procedures.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and physical therapists.
Discharge Planning:
Assess and coordinate ongoing patient discharge needs with the healthcare team.
Documentation & Safety:
Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical records (EMR) system while strictly adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications Education:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program. (BSN highly preferred).
Licensure:
Active, unencumbered Virginia RN license or Multi-State Compact License.
Experience:
Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent acute care RN experience (preferred in PCU, Stepdown, or ICU settings).
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) may be required depending on the specific unit.
