The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 11-17. Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures, the Nurse Practice Act, and maintain patient safety.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures. Monitors, reports, and documents the residents' behavior and physiological status. Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures. Assists residents to regain health & reduce episodes of illness through resident and family education. Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program. Service Excellence Qualifications Graduation from an approved School of Nursing Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multi- state license Prefer experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. New Nurses will be considered. Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations. Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
