2 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Richmond, VA, requiring at least 2 years of labor experience and working night shifts on a 13-week contract. Details Work setting is a 24-bed Maternal Infant Unit (L&D) located on the 3rd floor of the Atrium building Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM•7:00 AM Patient ratios: 1:1 for labor (most of the time), 5-6:1 for postpartum, and 5-6:1 for nursery Typical procedures include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, antepartum care, and newborn and postpartum care Day shift team includes labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, secretaries, leadership, and an educator; night shift includes labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, and secretaries GE fetal monitors are used on the unit EMR system: Meditech and CPN Every third weekend required, plus 12 hours of on-call per 4-week schedule Requirements Active VA RN license or Compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of recent labor (L&D) experience required Required certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NRP
(Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics card required), and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) or NCCEFM All certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start US SSN and date of birth required for consideration No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months Additional Information Preferred candidates have 2+ years of labor experience with a background in high-volume LDRP settings Navy blue scrubs are required; MIU nurses wear pink badges for infant security Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible One professional reference is required; candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but the 2-year experience requirement applies
