Job Description

Looking to make a difference? Spend time with an individual living with a disability by being a Home Provider with Families First! The mission of Families First is to provide person-centered support for youth and adults living with developmental disabilities. Our services promote independent living skills, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate community membership through caring and respectful relationships. Families First is seeking a compassionate and dependable Home Provider for a friendly 70-year-old woman living with developmental disabilities in Bennington County, Vermont. She enjoys listening to music, movies, arts and crafts, and spending time socializing with others. She has a wonderful sense of humor and enjoys being around caring, positive people. The ideal provider will offer a safe, supportive home environment and assist with some personal care needs, while encouraging independence, community involvement, and daily activities. A Home Provider will share their home and time with an advocate and should have a spare lockable bedroom available. Applicants should have an awareness or training in trauma informed care and should be located in the state of Vermont,within 45 minutes of Bennington.
Compensation includes:
Tax-free annual stipend of $52,000 Room and board . This is a contracted, tax exempt position. There are no benefits included. Pay is need based funding dependent on the advocate. Home Providers may receive funding to hire respite as well as other agency supports.
Requirements:
Must reside in Bennington County and have an extra/spare bedroom with a lockable door for privacy. Have a clutter-free, well-organized home space. Have a caring, reliable, and patient personality. A valid driver's license and car insurance.
A home inspection:
checks for fire extinguishers, fire alarms, a means of egress, and other safety considerations. Must pass background checks Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is helpful but not required If offered a position, background checks and completion of a hire packet through Aris is required.
