Unit Description:
The Infusion Nurse in Ambulatory Oncology provides chemotherapy and biologic therapies to adult patients with complex illness. Key aspects of this direct-care role include insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters; establishing access via utilizing implanted devices; administration of systemic chemotherapy and biotherapies; supporting the infusion patient who is participating in clinical trials; and comprehensive patient assessment and education. + The incumbent will work a combination of 1 weekday either Fridays or Mondays from 7am•7:30pm, and 1 weekend day either Saturdays or Sundays from 7am•3:30pm. +
Education:
State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( BSN ) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. +
Experience:
1 year experience in relevant clinical area and/or independent in all areas of the Ambulatory RN I accountabilities. Chemotherapy Certification preferred. Oncology Certification preferred.

Requirements:
+ Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. + ADN required, BSN preferred + Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
