Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION
Assists in administering the Center's Health and Wellness Services Program.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Health and Wellness Services program in accordance with DOL guidelines, federal, state and city laws and regulations. Oversees scheduling of sick call, infirmary coverage, and environmental health, physical and dental exams in accordance with DOL guidelines. Inspects the food service facility and dormitories regularly. Assist with the management of medical records and the Health Management Information System. Develops and maintains an inventory control system for medication, equipment and medical supplies. Conducts inventories of supplies and medications monthly. Communicates with parents, legal guardians and other personnel regarding students' health and well-being. Purchases medication and medical supplies. Participates in nurses' on-call rotation. Functions as staff nurse as needed. Collects data and maintains wellness monthly Utilization Report. Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures. Models appropriate behaviors, mentors students and monitors both positive and negative behaviors through interventions. Ensures the proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the health and wellness centerSKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques and practices Proven ability to lead and support a team Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques and practices Knowledge of current state and federal laws regulating health care and patient privacy (HIPPA) Strong organization skills and communication skills, both oral and written Familiarity with medical needs of young adults Meticulous documentation/recording skills and attention to detail; excellent time management Ability to multi-task in a fast-changing environment Proficient in the use of a personal computer and computer software including MS Word, Excel and OutlookEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
State Licensed Registered Nurse.EXPERIENCE
