POSITION SUMMARY
Multiple positions with varying hours.

The School Nurse will work closely with a single student who has specific medical needs requiring individualized care throughout the school day. This role involves not only medical oversight but also a commitment to ensuring the student's comfort and well-being within the school environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide direct medical care and supervision to the student as per their individual health plan. Administer medications, perform medical procedures, and monitor vital signs as needed. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to develop and implement the students health plan. Educate and support school staff and peers on the student's medical condition and necessary accommodations. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for the student. Respond promptly to any medical emergencies or health issues that arise during school hours. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and school policies. Trains and monitors designated school personnel in medication administration, health room procedures and health care plans. Develops and maintains health care plans for students with health problems. Maintains up-to-date health records on students. Contributes to multidisciplinary decisions related to educational planning for a student as appropriate. Attends guidance team meetings and I.E.P. meetings as requested. Acts as liaison between parents, medical professionals and school personnel. Implements the RCWs and WACs relating to health care in the District. Work cooperatively with a building team in planning, supporting and providing instruction and share with other staff the responsibility for supervision of student behavior outside of the regular classroom. Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open communication. Interest and desire to implement the use of technology in service. Commitment to continued learning and personal professional growth. Possess knowledge of and adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulation and Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, unrestricted license in [State]. Previous experience working with medically complex patients or students preferred. Strong clinical skills with the ability to perform medical procedures and handle emergencies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff. Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing high-quality care. Ability to adapt to the dynamic school environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Current Registered Nurse license for the State of Washington. Current First Aid/CPR Certification or equivalent. Valid WA State drivers license and appropriate insurance required. Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING
That which is authorized by your supervisor and required to be effective in the position and to maintain certification.
