Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our emergency care team for a dynamic assignment in a hospital setting. This role involves providing high-quality emergency medical services in a fast-paced environment, ensuring prompt and effective patient care across diverse cases. The ideal candidate will possess extensive emergency room experience, critical care skills, and proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions rapidly, administering emergency treatments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining meticulous medical documentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt swiftly to evolving situations. This role is essential in delivering compassionate, efficient care to patients experiencing acute health crises. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon arrival, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history review. Administer emergency interventions such as IV infusions, airway management, suturing, and medication administration following aseptic techniques. Utilize electronic health record systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient care accurately and efficiently. Support triage processes by prioritizing patient needs based on severity and acuity levels. Collaborate with physicians, radiology teams (including CT imaging), laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. Manage patients with complex conditions such as trauma (Level I & II trauma center experience), infectious diseases, or acute pain management cases. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times. Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery and follow-up care. Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures including ventilator management and ICU protocols. Demonstrate adaptability by working day or night shifts across 36-hour weekly schedules in a fast-paced emergency environment. Experience Minimum of two years of emergency room experience in hospital settings with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Proven critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings; familiarity with trauma medicine is highly desirable. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical terminology relevant to emergency medicine. Skilled in procedures like venipuncture, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols. Familiarity with specialty areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, occupational health, outpatient urgent care clinics, and post-acute care environments. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and sonography when necessary. Strong understanding of OSHA standards related to aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
