Job Description

Primary Scheduled Hours:

Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Acute Care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Can triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, every patient that enters the Acute Care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with PCP physician about changes in patient's status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies. Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Float required to ER, OB, and other hospital departments as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, and the general patient population. Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately. Accurately assigns triage categories. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
Education Background and Experience Requirements Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Required Licensure /
Certifications:
Current RN license within the state of practice. Current BLS Certification. NRP with one (1) year of hire. ACLS Certified within six (6) months of hire. TNCC within one (1) year of hire. ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within one (1) year of hire, or PALS within one (1) year of hire.

Two (2) years hospital experience.
Professional Requirements:
Maintain regulatory requirements Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
