1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level III Trauma Center in Puyallup, WA, requiring at least 2 years of acute/inpatient OR experience with strong ortho, spine, and robotics skills. Details 12-hour day shifts with variable start times of 0630, 0830, or 1030, depending on department needs 36 hours per week; shift start time may vary weekly but will not change on a daily basis Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds and 12 ORs (11 run daily, plus one hybrid OR) Approximately 40-50 surgical cases per day Patient population includes adult ENT (thyroid), general surgery, ortho spine, orthopedics (total joint), GYN, vascular (AV fistula, fem-pop), urology, and podiatry; minimal pediatrics (typically ENT only); no open heart, transplants, or high-level neuro procedures (e.g., EVDs) RNs circulate only; strong experience required in ortho, sports medicine, spine, and robotics (DaVinci) Charting systems: Epic (required), Alaris, and Pyxis On-call required: 4-6 call shifts per 6-week schedule period, including potential nights (2230-0700) and weekends 30-minute on-call response time required; no sleep rooms available Weekend work required as determined by department needs Floating may occur during low census in the OR to inpatient areas (MS, ICU, PCU, ED Holding, PACU, etc.) in a non-clinical support role (e.g., helping hands, runner/tasker, vital signs, sitter, stocking) — will not take a patient assignment or administer medications Requirements Active WA RN license or compact RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of acute/inpatient OR experience required; candidates with less than 2 years but strong OR experience may be considered with nurse manager approval Strong hands-on experience in ortho, sports medicine, spine, and robotics (DaVinci) required Total joint experience required Epic EMR experience required Robotic experience (DaVinci XI / Robotic Mazer) preferred COVID vaccination required Rhythm exam must be completed prior to start Two supervisory references required (charge nurse, manager, director, or above); one reference accepted at time of consideration with second required prior to start Additional Information First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Scrubs are provided by the facility No personal phones permitted in the OR Orientation includes a new employee orientation day followed by unit-specific orientation for the remainder of the first week; Epic training begins on Thursday Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved; additional RTO requests require nurse manager approval; missed days due to RTO may need to be made up at the end of the contract Must be available to work 7 days a week unless approved by the nurse manager Candidates must have worked the shift type they are being considered for, and prior facility experience should be at comparable hospitals
