1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Stepdown Neuro position at a Magnet, Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital, requiring telemetry proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Details Stepdown Neuro unit in a 500-bed Magnet, Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital Patient population includes neurosurgery, neurology, and epilepsy cases such as traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping and coiling, spinal cord injury, strokes, seizures, and changes in mental status Telemetry monitoring is a core component of care on this unit Patient ratio of 1:5 Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30) 13-week contract Every other weekend required; flexibility in scheduling is expected No on-call requirements Travelers are first to float within scope to meet facility needs Block scheduling is not available Charting via Epic (hard stop — experience required) Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction Requirements Active WA RN license or compact license currently in hand (pending license not accepted) Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Telemetry proficiency required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias — a telemetry test will be administered IV insertion skills required Experience caring for patients with tracheostomies required Level 1 trauma experience preferred Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred Epic EMR experience preferred COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions Prior UW staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler Additional Information Provide stepdown-level neurological nursing care including telemetry monitoring and management of complex neurosurgical and neurological conditions First-time travelers with strong neuro experience will be considered and screened to the manager RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum; no more than 6 days of RTO for the contract Blue scrubs required On-site parking is available for a daily fee; an off-site parking garage option approximately 1 mile away with shuttle service (weekdays, 5am-10pm only) is also availableSimilar jobs in Seattle, WA
