Job Description

Job Summary:
The RN Educator is responsible for providing education to the nursing staff to maintain requirements and update clinical nursing skills as new methods and technology become available.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Evaluate and update in-service training and development programs related to nursing employee's clinical skills Develops and maintains clinical orientation training program for new (facility) staff, including orientation to facility policies, procedures, philosophy of care and regulations that govern long term care Develop training programs for new initiatives, areas identified in plans of correction, changes in policies or regulatory requirements and other programs as needed Working knowledge to apply standards of professional nursing practices. Assist in developing nursing policies/procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care. Establish criteria to assure that services provided meet established standards of quality. Coordinates and conducts yearly 12- hour resident assistant/CBRF continuing education courses for updated federal/state regulations and residential compliance in collaboration with Director of Nursing Assists the Director of Nursing in the development, review, revision and implementation of nursing department policies, procedures, job descriptions and evaluations Develops and maintains process for implementation and tracking of company-wide annual mandatory education Develops and maintains process to make continuing education programs available to all residential care staff As directed, implements/assists with the implementation and training of workplace safety programs in the facility Obtains and or develops effective training material using a variety of media Maintains files of lesson plans and attendance for all programs taught to employees and ensures training records are retained per company policy Coordinates and trains staff on RN delegated tasks Assess, plan, develop and coordinate resident, family, and community education on current health and disease management topics
Required Skills/Abilities:
Able to conduct training and education on all shifts Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Remain current on training and instructional methodologies, including applicable technology resources available Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and require minimal supervision Maintain current knowledge of state, federal and licensing regulations Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with residents, families and other employees at all levels Computer knowledge: Proficient with
Microsoft Office Suite Education and Experience:
Graduate from accredited school of nursing with RN degree Possess current WI RN license and CPR/First Aid certification, required Maintains certification as CBRF Certification trainer, preferred 5 + years' experience working with the senior population and knowledge of regulatory compliance and continuing care retirement community operations; prior staff development or program development experience, preferred
Work Environment:
Works throughout the facility Work is generally performed indoors in an environmentally controlled building Potential for exposure to infectious organisms, blood and other body fluids, other hazardous waste materials, dust, unpleasant odors, loud and unpleasant noises, and bodily injury Interaction with residents, personnel and visitors and at times emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors Gloves along with other PPE devices (gowns, masks/eye protection) may be used and are made available
Physical Requirements:
