Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm; occasional rounding on evenings, nights and weekends

POSITION SUMMARY
The Employee Health Nurse helps ensure a safe environment for employees, patients and volunteers. Utilizes skills to assess, plan and monitor an employee's health and workplace safety from pre-placement through end of employment as well as participates in risk assessment and risk potential of the facility. The Employee Health Nurse maintains employee and volunteer records ensuring compliance with regulatory standards by leveraging technology to enhance employee health services. The Employee Health Nurse fosters a work environment supportive of healthy lifestyles.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide Employee Health services in accordance with SPH policies and procedures, standards of care and regulatory requirements. Provide and maintain the immunization/tuberculosis screening and surveillance program for SPH employees (including candidates for employment and current employees) and volunteers per established requirements. Provide immunization services for onboarding employees/volunteers including teaching, counseling, follow-up and record keeping. Responsible for educating staff on preventing and treating occupational injuries and illnesses, assessing educational needs, and facilitating the development and implementation of relevant training programs. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards including blood borne pathogen (BBP) precautions, safe use of sharps, post-exposure process, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conducts regular rounding and provides coaching and education to ensure compliance. Coordinate the care and follow up activities for employee exposure BBP or communicable disease. Report communicable diseases to infection control and/or public health agencies as required. Perform ergonomic assessments of employee workstations. Manage workers' compensation cases, including injury documentation, coordination of care, return-to-work planning, and communication with providers and insurers. Provides education related to claim trends. Collaborates with Human Resources on leave of absence, ADA interactive process, and health-related performance issues. Coordinate return-to-work programs and accommodations for employees as needed. Lead accreditation activities associated with employee health. Provide annual TB testing and follow-up on any new conversions or positives. Provide annual employee/volunteer influenza vaccination. Review OSHA Respirator Medical Questionnaires for employee/volunteers at start and annually. Follow up with employees according to policy. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement employee health policies, procedures, programs, and services that promote the health/safety of employees Collect a specimen for testing as deemed necessary by Leaders and Human Resources who identify a reasonable cause for testing. Align Employee Health activities with Infection Control actions regarding communicable disease. Monitor employee illnesses for trends.

Associate Degree in
Nursing Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
Required:
Three to five years of nursing experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
Preferred:
Experience using an employee health information system

Current State of Wisconsin license as a
Registered Nurse Preferred:
None Certification(s):
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months from date of hire.
