1845-0715 About Facility o 3400 Union Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53081 o 101 Licensed beds o Level IV Trauma Center o Primary Stroke Center General Information o
Beds:
23-24, depending on unit o
Minimum Years of Experience:
2 years MedSurg experience o First-time traveler:
Yes Patient Types:
o This is a Float Pool position. Travelers will be required to float to the below units as well as anywhere in the hospital there are MedSurg patients, including ER Holding/Boarding. o MS1
General Medical Surgical Oncology:
will not have to give chemo, but will care for oncology patients and patients receiving chemo Do have some pediatric patients on the floor (> 1 yr. old). No peds experience required, will not take peds patients.
Surgical:
gallbladder, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies,
TURPs General Medical:
Cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, etc. Outpatient infusions(abx/fluids) o MS2
Ortho/Neuro Observation:
chest pain, dizziness, syncope
Ortho:
total hips, total knees, shoulders.
Neuro:
spine surgeries, strokes, altered mental status, TIA vs. stroke obs, o MS2 Cardiac Cardiac post-procedure: cath, TEE, cardioversion. Send for manager approval if no experience with this.
General Cardiac:
heart failure, chest pain, cardiac arrythmias

Required Certifications:

BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required o Chest tubes, stable trach management, IV skills, port/central lines, knowledgeable on CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo (RT will manage equipment), foley insertion/care, feeding tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation o
Titrating Drips:
Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroean. Send for manager approval if no experience with drips. o EPIC experience Support on the
Unit:
o
HUC:
Days only o
CNA:
Able to take vitals, do blood glucose, no IV insertions or removals Days 1:5-6 PM 1:6-7 Nights 1:10 o Charge nurse - takes patient assignment. Sometimes full, sometimes reduced o
Phlebotomy:
Yes, peripheral lab draws o Hard sticks: notify house supervisor, will find a resource (anesthesia or ED tech/RN) o RT 24/7 o Hospitalist 24/7 - communicates through secure chat on EPIC o
OT, PT, ST
weekdays, limited hours on weekends o Remote tele monitoring with Tele tech. If short Tele techs, could be asked to monitor patients

o One full shift login access, paperwork, Epic login, o Remainder of the shift on the unit o 1 12h shift unit orientation manager will choose which unit(s) they will orient to and can receive brief orientation to any new unit they float to
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other weekend o Shifts times: 1845-0715, 0645-1915 o Schedule is made 4-6 weeks at a time, will receive 2 weeks prior. Will consider block scheduling if requested, but no guarantees o
