Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric care to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health nursing, combined with excellent patient assessment skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric nursing services, ensuring safety, and supporting recovery through evidence-based practices.
Hours:
36 hours per week, Mondays & Wednesdays 7:30am-5:00pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays 8:30am-6:00pm, with the capability to pick up extra hours and fill in on Fridays as needed. Our nursing staff assists five psychiatric prescribers, consisting of three Psychiatrists (MD's) and two Advance Practice Nurse Prescribers (APNP's). Responsibilities Monitor nursing voicemails, take and return patient phone calls e-Prescribe or call in patient medications with prescriber approval Administer treatments accurately, including psychotropic medications, injections, following established protocols and safety guidelines Monitor patients patient behavior, mood and safety, including suicide risk and promptly document & report findings to the multidisciplinary team Respond and manage psychiatric crises and behavioral emergencies Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations Collaborate with prescribers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals Provide education to patients and their families regarding medication management, coping strategies, and community resources. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and suicide prevention measures Schedule appointments as needed Complete prior authorizations for medications Arranging delivery of specialty medications Collecting UDS as needed Assist/back up for Spravato clinic Other misc. nursing tasks as needed Skills Proven experience in psychiatric nursing within inpatient or outpatient settings; experience in behavioral health or mental health facilities is preferred Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, therapeutic modalities, and crisis intervention strategies preferred Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and patient management Ability to administer injections Excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration Knowledge of medication administration protocols including psychotropic drugs Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information Strong critical thinking, organization, prioritization and problem solving skills Ability to handle acute situations calmly while maintaining professional composure under pressure Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions Pay will be based on experience.
