Duties Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine individual needs. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document patient information meticulously and ensure seamless communication among healthcare teams. Assist with diagnostic procedures like IV insertions, catheterizations, suturing, and specimen collection to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and coordinate with physicians for complex cases such as ICU or trauma medicine scenarios. Provide patient education on medication administration, post-discharge care, nutrition, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Follow strict infection control protocols including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Requirements Valid RN license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards. Proven experience in diverse healthcare settings such as hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), emergency room, or long-term care facilities. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), and laboratory procedures. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in specialized areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, memory care, or behavioral health is highly desirable. Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations confidently while demonstrating excellent patient assessment skills. Critical care experience including trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred. Skills in IV infusion therapy, tube feeding management, ventilator support, and infection control practices are essential. Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care across all age groups—children to seniors—are vital for success in this role.
