Duties Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, and wound suturing, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Monitor patients' physiological responses, manage acute pain, and respond swiftly to emergent situations such as airway compromise or trauma incidents. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs such as cardiac conditions, infectious diseases, or trauma cases. Document all patient interactions thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Assist in diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection, laboratory testing, and imaging procedures such as CT scans or sonography. Support discharge planning and patient education initiatives to promote recovery at home or in long-term care settings such as assisted living or memory care facilities. Experience Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital environments, with additional exposure to ICU or Level I/II trauma centers preferred. Demonstrated proficiency working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient record management. Critical care experience including ICU or emergency room settings is highly desirable; familiarity with trauma medicine and acute care procedures is essential. Hands-on experience with specialized procedures such as catheterization, dialysis management, ostomy care, or ventilator support is advantageous. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation and billing processes; familiarity with NCQA standards for quality assurance is beneficial. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities enhances clinical versatility. Strong understanding of infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology ensures safe and effective patient care delivery.
