The RN shall accept accountability, use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. Provides physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. Follows standards of care set by the WV State Board of Nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.

Responsibilities Understanding Roles and Responsibilities:

Interacts with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs and identify teaching/learning needs of patients. Takes responsibility for clarifying job responsibilities, including the need to understand performance standards and other expectations. Communicates with supervisor regularly to ensure that there is no misunderstanding about how performance will be measured and how expectations relate to the job. Seeks clarification as needed or when responsibilities are not understood. Willingly accepts change.

Can demonstrate skills and knowledge in day-to-day situations, including the use of equipment associated with job responsibilities. Performs patient care as well as administrative tasks.
