1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Details Acute care setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) PACU department covering PreOp, Phase 1, and Phase 2 Patient ratios follow ASPAN guidelines: no more than 1:2 in Phase 1; typically 1:2 or better in Phase 2 with a minimum of 2 RNs on Phase 2 at all times Phillips telemetry monitoring in use; RNs must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips No IV team on unit; RT and Pyxis available on-site; pharmacy is not in-house 24/7 Epic EMR is used in this position Schedule is four 10-hour day shifts per week; PreOp starts at 6 AM, Phase 2 at 7 AM, and Phase 1 at 8 AM On-call is required nights and weekends, averaging approximately 3-4 call shifts per month with a 30-minute response time (dressed and ready to work) Weekend requirement is approximately once every 8 weeks Holiday coverage is handled via call shifts No floating outside of the PACU department; must be able to work in PreOp, Phase 1, and Phase 2 Requirements Active WV or Compact RN license required Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS Minimum 2 years of RN experience required BSN not required Epic EMR experience preferred Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips required Valid driver's license required for consideration — copy must be provided Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Additional Information Provide post-anesthesia care across PreOp, Phase 1, and Phase 2 settings Unit is typically well-staffed per ASPAN guidelines; call-outs are infrequent and rarely extend past 7 PM Charge nurse and one PCT are present in PreOp/PACU Scrubs are provided by the facility Orientation consists of 1-2 preceptor shifts following the main hospital orientation Candidates must have a 2-year break before returning if they previously worked at any WVU Medicine location as a traveler or permanent employee Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative year without a 2-year break Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
