Registered Nurse - Marshall Internal Medicine

Job Responsibilities:

Considers age-related factors in the care, treatment, assessment and education of patients. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Performs direct patient care as ordered by the physicians, i.e., injections, suture removal, dressing changes and other duties as required. Communicates to the patient and/or patient's family information with regards to specific health care needs, i.e., signs and symptoms, reaction to medication therapy and precautions, wound care, medication administration and others as needed. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care; including minor surgical procedures. Monitors and ensures accuracy of documentation on patient medical records on a timely basis. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Schedules patients for various x-rays, scans, surgical procedures and hospital admissions appropriately. Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Prepares rooms for exams as specified by each individual physician. Performs ancillary patient care duties through calling prescriptions to pharmacies and assisting the physicians with return calls to patients. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, conforming to OSHA regulations and other agencies. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs to maintain state licensure. Codes office visits i.e., examination, office surgery for reimbursement using

CPT-ICD-10

codes which complement each other. Ensures and seeks to improve nursing standards and nursing care practices to meet new office practice concepts and managerial methods. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education:

Graduate of a school of nursing. Current RN license required.

Experience:
